INSTITUTIONAL DIRECTION


COLEGIO DEL SAGRADO CORAZON DE JESUS, INC., Research and Development Program facilitates the discovery, articulation and application of new knowledge and technology for integral formation and development of persons in poverty situations.

A vibrant research and development program animated with Christian and Vincentian values promoting a culture of research among the faculty, staff and students by enhancing their competency in conducting studies and in applying and disseminating information and findings for the benefit of the ongoing development of the insitution and for the service of the Church, and of society.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES


The Research and Developmental Program aims to achieve the following:



  1. To increase awareness and recognition by all personnel of the importance of research in the improvement and development of the CSCJ as a Catholic community of learners.
  2. To involve actively all personnel and students in the research program of the institution.
  3. To disseminate to the public all institutional research outputs through annual research symposia and colloquia and in the Integrated Research Journal and other research journals.
  4. To establish linkage and network with other educational institution for collaboration and funding in research.
  5. To use research findings as inputs to instructions by all faculty members, administrator and stakeholder for innovation.

A. Catholic Identity Mission


Catholic Identity and Mission is reflected in the school's philosophy, vision, mission and core values that foster an environment where Jesus is encountered especially in the person of the poor, where faith is formed and integrated with culture and life and lived out in harmonious relationship with persons and institutions for the service of life and the common good.

B. Leadership and Governance


CHEI fulfills its participation and contribution through its governing leaders who provide authority, strategic direction, sound management, and regulation of school operations. Born from the heart of the Church, and in the spirit of servant leadership, stewardship, and Christian witnessing, CHEI's governance and leadership practice and promote professionalism, collegiality, co-responsibility, subsidiary, local and international linkages, effectively creating a transformative institution.

C. Learner Development

The CHEI directs the entire educational process towards the whole development of the person. It pursues the advancement of human dignity through research, teaching, and various services offered to the local, national, and international communities. Through research and teaching, it seeks to educate the learners in the various disciplines to become truly competent in the specific sectors in which they will devote themselves to the service of society and of the Church, but at the same time prepared to give the witness of their faith to the world.

D. Research and Community Engagement

It implements mutually beneficial community engagement programs that transform both learners and society. They provide opportunities for learners to become agents of change advocating and working for gender equality and justice, peace, political stability, and the integrity of creation.

The CHEI provides opportunities for its members to appreciate people of diverse cultures and beliefs through scholarly encounters and dialogues that further uphold and cultivate academic freedom. In addition, the Catholic school promotes an atmosphere that is safe and secure, especially for the young and the vulnerable adults.
